9:30 a.m. Discussion Group
For the pre-service discussion this week Carol will lead a talk about art in our lives–what art forms we care about, or specific works of art, and what art gives us–including crafts or art forms such as cooking. I’d also invite people to bring works of art to share.
And here are some quotes to get the discussion started:
“Art is the means we have of undoing the damage of haste.”
Theodore Roethke
“Even sad music requires an absolute happiness.”
Galway Kinnell
“An artist is someone who knows how to use the accidents.”
Pablo Picasso
“It is difficult to get the news from poems, yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there.” William Carlos Williams
“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way–things I had no words for.” Georgia O’Keeffe
“How do I know what I mean until I see what I say?” E. M. Forster
“Poetry is the cat concert under the window of the room in which the official version of reality is taking place.” Tom McGrath
10:30 a.m. Worship Service
Rev. Patt Herdklotz will lead a Flower Communion service. Bring a flower from your garden to share in the ritual of creating a bouquet for this traditional service.
