A reminder that following our service on Sunday we will have a potluck lunch and then our Annual Meeting. All are welcome to attend, but members are strongly encouraged to come. General Fellowship business will be introduced and attended to, with approval being required for some items. We need at least 30 percent of actual members in order to vote on items requiring approval from congregation. A meeting agenda will be emailed to you by tomorrow.
Also, Rev. Patt will be honoring those who wish to become honest-to-God/s UUFKC members. There will be a member pledge, and signing in the membership book. A few nice UU things will be provided to these individuals. Hope to see lots of new signatures!
Discussion Group, 9:45 a.m.
Mika Cottier will be leading discussion. Her topic for the day: Walt Whitman writes in the Preface to the Leaves of Grass: “…re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem…”
What have you dismissed? Or more importantly, after your dismissal what teachings remain in your soul? If you like, please expand on this in the form of an obituary to pass your learning to others in our community.
Worship Service, 10:30 a.m.
“Loving the Earth” is the topic of Rev. Patt’s sermon, focusing on Earth Day. She asks us to consider how we go about loving the Earth, and how it relates to the UU 7th Principle.
