This Sunday at the UU Fellowship

9:45 a.m. Discussion

Scott Wagner will lead the discussion this week. The discussion will be based on a blog from a mother in Texas who is “raising her children without God”. Please look over the attachment included, which is the actual blog. This should provide much for a spirited conversation!

10:30 a.m. Service

This Sunday’s service will be a participatory one, focusing on the topic of “Hope”. We have several inspiring readings which we hope some of you will volunteer to read aloud to the group. There will be some time between each to have a brief discussion.

This Sunday at the UU Fellowship

Mr. Lee Lawson will lead the discussion this Sunday. He asks to consider this quote of Buddha’s:
“In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create
distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.”
He asks us to consider how this is seen by people in their daily lives.

Please join us this Sunday for an enlightening service with Rev. Stephen Ames. He will be discussing Jesus’ radical nonviolence teachings in a sermon titled, “The Second Mile (Love Your Enemies)”.

A potluck lunch follows, with the concluding segment of Rev. Ames’ workshop on worship associates training afterwards.

UU Happenings this Sunday December 30

We will enjoy a Sunday of New Year ponderings and activities! Please join us!

Phil Studenberg will lead the discussion this Sunday at 9:45 a.m.:
“The Art of Non-Conformity » How to Conduct Your Own Annual Review”
Please take a look at the article at this site:×5/how-to-conduct-your-own-annual-review/

The service following at 10:30 a.m., “Transformations” will be a participatory one, led by Julia Jackman, to help us usher in the New Year. Come prepared to write or draw something in your life that you wish to leave behind, and then something that you wish to transform, develop or grow in your life. We will have a little ritual for both…
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

9:45 Discussion Group

Julie Murray-Jensen will lead a discussion inspired by the book “The Start-up of You: Adapt to the Future, Invest in Yourself and Transform Your Career,” cowritten by Reid Hoffman, founder and chairman of Mountain View, Calif.-based LinkedIn Corp. The discussion will focus on the ways that today’s workplace has become more tenuous in nature, where “only the paranoid survive…”, or at least the adaptable, and how that has changed the way people seek work, and how it impacts their loyalties to both employer and one’s career identity.

10:30 Sermon

From the desk of Rev. Stephen Ames: “I look forward to seeing you all again on Sunday, December 2nd!  I’ll be leading a service on ‘Hanukkah: Dedication of the Temple,’ exploring the meaning and value of religious gathering places.”

Potluck lunch to follow the service!

12:15 Post-sermon Workshop

Following the service, and again on January 6, we’ll have Worship Associates trainings from 12:15 to 2:00 p.m.  This is a two-part series, not a repeat, and you’ll be asked to complete and return the application form (sent previously and available on Sundays). If you have not already done this and are interested in the workshop, there will be hard copies available at the Fellowship, or you can open the attachment.
