Renting Space for UUFKCs exclusive use

Board Explores Renting Space for UUFKC’s Exclusive Use

Chuck talked with the Episcopalian Church leaders and understands that they are willing to give us exclusive use of the Upstairs Meeting Room (where we currently meet).

We would like to discuss this idea over the next few months and hear input from the UUFKC fellowship.

Here is the plan for this process:

November 13th Board Meeting:

The Board will finalize our financial picture and projection for next year (maybe based on a couple of pledging totals);

The Board will create a proposal for congregational consideration with options, to be  sent by email and regular mail immediately after the November meeting.

December 11th Board Meeting:

The first half hour of the December Board Meeting will be a presentation of comments received to date and an open discussion of the proposals, and any recommendations by congregants. Absentee members may email or mail comments to the board prior. Note that in any situation it is those who speak up or show up that finally make the decision. This also would be the final announcement that we shall decide on the long range plan in January.

January 8th Board Meeting:

The Board will make the final decision on whether to sign a rental agreement with the Episcopalians.

Support the Urban Trail Master Plan for a healthier Klamath Falls!

This email is shared from the Sky Lakes Wellness team. As a supporter of improving our Klamath Falls community and advocating for healthy living, the Unitarian Fellowship is sharing this information on our website:utmp

Last night our Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend to City Council that the Klamath Falls Urban Trail Master Plan (UTMP) be adopted into the TSP (Transportation Systems Plan)!  The showing from the community was tremendous and many spoke in support of the UTMP.  The enthusiasm was inspiring!

But we will not be able to move forward with any of the trail, bike lane, or sidewalk connectivity projects within the UTMP unless at least three City Councilors vote in support of the UTMP at City Council the night of June 6thHaving your support the night of the 6th will absolutely make a difference in the outcome.  Please consider joining in support of this important project for Klamath’s future.  Though public speaking can be so difficult, saying a few words as to why walkable and bikeable communities are important to you will really impact those Council Members who are wavering.

When:  Monday, June  6th at 7 p.m. (please arrive a few minutes early)

Where: Council Chambers, 500 Klamath Avenue

If you are interested in helping even more, please consider writing, calling, or meeting with Council Members to voice your support of the UTMP:

Sale of old UU Property

UP DATE ON SALE OF OUR UU PROPERTY

We have had a verbal offer by a qualified buyer;
The offer is:
Sales Price $ 65,000
Down Payment $ 8,000
Balance $ 57,000 @ 4.5% for 149 months ( payoff date: 2028)
Monthly Payment $ 500
The sale is conditional upon the well and septic system being approved by the County
The well & septic inspection cost is approx. $ 1,000, to be paid by buyer).
Chuck discussed the offer with the Board, Phil Studenberg and several others in the program planning area to gauge their approval. All agreed to proceed. An email was sent to all announcing the decision. The Board approved a minute authorizing Phil and Chuck to complete the Agreement and to sign the documents necessary to completing the transaction.
Chuck met earlier this week with the Attorney to finalize the draft SALE AGREEMENT AND EARNEST MONEY RECEIPT, and gave our client a copy. She is holding it until she completes the inspection of the well and septic system. We then will open a title insurance account with Amerititle. We will sign the Agreement, she will deposit her earnest money of $1,000, and the process will continue, to hopefully close by mid-June.
Upon closing, Amerititle will have an escrow account set up to collect the monthly payment of $500 and deposit it to the UU account; this will be done upon legal advice, to ensure that there is a third party accounting of payments in accord with the Sale Agreement. It also makes the accounting easier, and more reliable, for our Treasurer.
Whether the sale is completed before our Fellowship’s planned gathering at the property, our client welcomes us to gather for the ceremony.
